In Memory of Steven Charles

My name is Carol. I have two wonderful son who are now 34 and 36. Our oldest son Greg's friend, Steven passed away on July 8th of 2008 as a result of a motorcycle accident. He was also very close to our youngest son Gary, both of our sons knew Steven for 30 and 32 years respectively and always stayed in touch. Our oldest son lives in Japan and every time that Greg would come to Canada to visit, Steven was always the first one at the airport to lend him a car and to pick him up and go out for a night of surprises. It was always treasured moments for them.

The way my husband and I knew Steven was that he was like our third son, and even though his family had moved to a different City, he still had 2 grandmothers in our City and when visiting them, he never missed an opportunity to visit us.

Many many times, Steven would visit us EVEN when our sons were not home and he felt right at home here. He had many many childhood sleep-overs with our boys and they shared many many birthdays, Christmases and holidays together.

Steven had a wonderful nick-name, SMILEY, because of his beautiful red hair and his huge larger-than-life smile that was extremely infectious. His wonderful parents brought him up to be very respectful and he made more friends than any of us knew he had and I think this is because he moved around a lot.

There was not ONE SINGLE THING nobody DID NOT like about this fine young man. After his passing, we have a special place on the river where we always went boating and it is called OISEAU ROCK or Bird Rock. People would hop into their boats and get as close to this rock as they could and paint on it.

After Steven's passing some kind person did just that, went to OISEAU ROCK and painted a SMILEY FACE on this rock with SMILEY painted below. This is such a tribute to a fine young man whose life was cut short way too soon. Rest in Peace Steven, we love you and will never ever forget you.
